Duration of the course: six months = 6x30+2 = 182 days

Objectives:

After the training the Auxiliary Nurse Midwives working in the community will be able to perform the role and functions of health supervisors (female)

Specific Objectives:

  1. Trainee will be able to strengthen knowledge in
    • MCH and family planning programme
    • Nutrition, malnutrition, deficiency diseases, balance diet and applied nutrition programme.
    • Nutrition, malnutrition, deficiency diseases, balance diet and applied nutrition programme.
    • Nutrition, malnutrition, deficiency diseases, balance diet and applied nutrition programme.
    • Fundamentals of Nursing.
    • National Health programmes
    • School Health care
    • Environmental sanitation.
  2. Trainee should be able to plan, organize, implement and evaluate health education programme
  3. Trainee should be able to conduct training of dais with the help of Auxiliary Nurse Midwives.
  4. Trainee should be able to acquire knowledge in the basic principles of supervision and management.
  5. Trainee should be able to identify and utilize the educational opportunities in her day today work as Health Supervisor(F).
  6. Trainee should be able to understand the existing health services in the country and the role of Health Supervisor for extending health for all by 2000 AD.
  7. Trainee should be able to plan to develop skill in assisting the research operation or survey studies in her field.

Venue:
Training should be conducted from LHV School and Public Health oriented training centre. Facilities available in these training centers should be utilize for this training also, vehicle must be provided.

Teaching Staff:
There should be one tutor and one Public Health Nurse at the ratio of 1:10 in this school. Provision also should be made for external lecturers.

General Policies

  1. Where ever possible only one batch should be taken in a year.
  2. Students should be granted one week's vacation during the six months course.
  3. Students should use white sari as uniform in the field (Community Health Nursing).
  4. External examination should be conducted preferable by the Nursing Council of each state and certification should be issued by the council.
